The growth and sophistication of the primary sector and Britkin Industrial Construction go hand in hand. The company has been at the forefront of food processing and storage facilities including Temperature Controlled Environments – coolstores, packhouses, food processing plants as well as warehouse and loadout canopy facilities.
Siblings Barbara Brittin and Richard Kinnear grew up watching their father Gordon pioneering the establishment of cool store and controlled environment innovations for the meat and fruit sectors. Gordon passed on much of his knowledge and passion for building quality facilities to his children.
Britkin has designed, project managed and built cold storage, warehouse and food processing facilities for many of Hawke’s Bay and New Zealand’s largest primary sector businesses such as Bostock New Zealand, Henderson Road Coolstores and Hill Road. The company has also been involved in the design and build of commercial complexes including administration offices and worker (RSE) accommodation.
Britkin has well established relationships with a wide range of build partners from designers, structural engineers, Geotech engineers and quality trades businesses.

Build Project Management
Managing budgets, deadlines and a wide range of sub-contractors are challenges that we enjoy.
We understand all the detail as well as the curve balls that arise during build projects.
It’s our job to deliver a completed industrial or commercial build project to a high standard, effectively and efficiently.
Costs, consenting and engineering technical requirements can be a mine field and require skills to navigate through – that’s where we stand out.
We have a preferred team of design and engineering consultants but can equally work with any businesses that you an existing and established relationship with.
Financing
Over the years Britkin has invested in large industrial complexes which are leased to food producers.
We therefore know how to access capital funding to get a project off the ground.

Pakowhai Road Coolstore was built under a tight timeline to be ready for the 2020 harvest season. The purpose built modern cool store includes a large open-air canopy for easy loading and unloading from trucks.
